Daye Kim
Contemporary Jewellery Artist
I explore the paradoxical nature of sibling relationships through contemporary jewellery design. My practice investigates how intimate bonds can simultaneously harbour competition, love, and alienation. Using 3D modelling and algorithmic generation, I create distorted ring structures that embody the twisted emotions inherent in sibling dynamics. The ring, inspired by the iconic 'Portrait of Gabrielle d'Estrées and Her Sister', becomes a metaphor for connection and constraint. My work transforms personal childhood memories of rivalry with my sister into universal symbols of human relationship complexity. Through wearable art, I invite viewers to physically experience these contradictory emotions.
