The collection ‘Rhapsody in Brass’ reflects my journey of honing my craft by focussing on the musicality that runs through my lineage. Earrings, bracelets and rings become a physical manifestation of the rhythms, harmony and improvisation of jazz, where form meets fluidity in a dynamic dance. Warped by memory, the bold curves and angular edges of instruments recalled from childhood are reimagined as metallic body adornments. My making process focuses on spontaneous and intuitive making, allowing my chosen material to respond to my making, working in tandem with my pieces. This, in turn, highlights the innate potential of my material, creating unique and personal pieces - a bridge between my jewellery and my family’s world of music.
