Megumi Ohata
Interdisciplinary Artist
My practice explores identity, cultural hybridity, and posthuman philosophy through wearable sculptures and hyperreal installations using artificial skin. Drawing on Japanese folklore and personal trauma, I investigate the body as a vessel of memory, where experiences are embedded in skin and muscle rather than just the mind. My work merges human and animal-like forms, questioning the boundaries between self and other, human and non-human. I aim to create spaces for intimate interactions and collective reflection, using the body and its surfaces to explore how memory, trauma, and transformation shape identity and how art can foster embodied empathy.
