Yoyojin (Hojin Im)

I often begin my work by questioning the word “peace” an ideal that appears beautiful but reveals its fragility under closer scrutiny. In South Korea, my home nation, peace is something we are expected to maintain, yet events such as the 2024 declaration of martial law or the 2023 false missile alert from North Korea remind us how easily it can fracture. Peace, in this sense, is not absolute, but constantly threatened—both internally and externally. My practice draws on these moments of rupture, exploring the instability that underlies our everyday modern life.
