Through the series ‘Not an Innocent Hole’ I aimed to make the ordinary seem not necessarily wrong, just less right.

A meagre hole in a plasterboard wall is treated as mythical. And like every myth, the world it creates seems real but almost unattainable. It is peculiar that it reconciles seemingly unlived moments with such earnestness. The hole is composed as a system of signs, possessing both a literal narrative and an innuendo.

In doing so it takes a simple-minded object to highlight the imperturbability, stupidity, and joys of everyday life, whilst having an interiorised and self-aware sense of the comic and mischief.
