Cindy Liu

Cindy Liu comes from backgrounds in architecture and metalsmithing, holding a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. During her academic and professional journey, she has participated in various building and urban regeneration projects, with a focus on sustainable design and material innovation.

Her research interests explore the concept of spatial palimpsest, archival spaces, and the role of the archive in cultural memory. Her work moves between building-scale projects and intimate jewellery explorations. In 2024, she founded Cinque, a studio dedicated to jewellery and object-making as a form of living archive.

My practice moves between scales, from habitable space to jewellery, always in dialogue with the body. Wax carving and metalsmithing allow me to engage with design in a tactile, intimate way—where the hand thinks through touch. Through casting and metal forming, I transform natural and cultural relics into wearable pieces, sealing ephemeral moments into the quiet permanence of metal. I work between traditional craft and digital fabrication, using making as a bridge between personal memory and broader material histories. Committed to sustainable processes, I work with reclaimed metal and archival textiles, trusting the materials themselves to hold and carry their layered narratives.
