Eden Frymel

Loopy Lamp is a collaborative work by Eden Frymel and Hold Art Collective (Stephanie Jefferies and Sarah Marsh).

Combining Frymel's ongoing exploration of playful, responsive lighting objects with Hold Art Collective's soft sculptural HUG form, the work reimagines lighting as something fluid, bodily, and relational.

Loopy Lamp is a long, plush, flexible light that resists a fixed form. It can be arranged in multiple configurations, shifting both its posture and the way it distributes light.

Rather than settling into a single state, the object changes through use, its form continually shaped by touch and arrangement. Its looping body suggests gesture and responsiveness, inviting playful engagement rather than passive placement. In this way, lighting becomes something to be interacted with directly, subverting expectations of stability and fixed function and instead positioning it as something alive, adaptable, and continually redefined through contact. Loopy Lamps’ ever-changing form blurs the boundary between lighting, furniture, and companion, challenging distinctions between functional object and lively presence.
