Giovanni Agostini
Giovanni is a designer specialising in ceramics. Born in Scotland, growing up in several countries and now living and working in and around London he has always been rooted by his family and cultural heritage. After graduating from Chelsea College of Arts his work continues to focus on cultural heritage, the exploration of design and the material uses outside of the taught Eurocentric sphere. By doing so he attempts to re-explore and re-establish himself as a mixed ethnic designer.
I am a heritage designer who specialises in ceramics and the representation of mixed culture through a making lead design process. I mix South Asian and European design to make unique pieces combining lived experience and cultural heritage. I source my forms from my diverse background; these ties root my values and practice. Through continuous intuitive exploration, finding and using my own materials or delving deeper into my heritage and community I have been able to progress my learning. This results in craft objects that express the importance of material and cultural research, bridging the gap between designer and audience.
