Jacqueline Baker

South African designer, Jacqueline Baker, explores the multiplicity of stained glass and how light and colour can transform our daily living spaces.
Taking from her background in Fine Art and Landscape Architecture she creates handcrafted pieces that transform space while maintaining the tradition of stained glass craftsmanship.
Inspired by modern form, she merges the nostalgia of coloured glass into the everyday, inviting the viewer to explore the relationship between materiality, colour, form and emotion through each design.

The Aurora Light: Crafting Home

The Aurora Light explores our deep, personal connection to colour and how refracted light transforms space and emotion. It invites us to experience how light and colour shape our surroundings, evoking memories and creating a sense of home or personal sanctuary.

Rooted in architectural abstraction, the Aurora Light is both sculptural and versatile, designed to complement a variety of interiors. Crafted using the traditional Tiffany stained glass technique—copper foil, cut glass, and solder—it pays homage to heritage while reinterpreting the craft for a contemporary setting.

Stained glass, long associated with sacred spaces, is here reimagined as a dynamic and intimate part of daily life.

The Aurora Light offers two distinct interactions with space: one side projects bold, vibrant hues, saturating the room with colour, while the other casts a soft, diffused glow, echoing light off surrounding walls.

The Aurora light is a homage to the personal spaces that we create within our own homes: a quiet echo of architectural tradition that carries the association of sacred spaces. The Aurora Light celebrates traditional craft as a statement piece while serving as an element of everyday living, blending artistry with purpose.
