Lin Dong (London Craft Week 2025)
This triptych draws inspiration from my time living in Paris, The frame of the painting is made by 3D printing.
The inspiration for the frame comes from the windows and mirrors of the residence during the period of living in Paris.where pigeons—symbolising human society—serve as a recurring motif of the mundane. The initial draft was created in watercolor, blending traditional Chinese ethnic motifs with gradient hues. It was later reimagined in oil paint on canvas, with the background palette symbolizing the unknown cosmos and my longing for family back in China. The triptych frame, modeled and 3D-printed, is inspired by the gilded mirror frame in my Parisian living room—a form of daily self-reflection. The reverse side features a mirrored finish, echoing the interplay of introspection and connection.
