I see everyday objects as a humble reflection of human thoughts. Their presence silently fills every gap in our daily life, leaving traces of unsaid things.
Because of social norms, people sometimes have to regulate their behaviour against their instinctive needs. However, those emotions are never actually gone. Thus, I applied a subtle but bold manipulation to the domestic setting, using anthropomorphic objects to create an uncanny scene.
Frequently dining out alone allows me to observe the surroundings in more depth. It makes me realise the freedom I got compared to the table manners most others conformed to. By incorporating retired crockery supplied by a restaurant I am close to, I created “The Restaurant” to unearth the hidden social rules within the dining space and reveal the primal instinct of human beings through domestic objects.
I believe in the power of art and craft to bring objects out of the storage room and echo again.
