Riolab Ceramics

The design is inspired by pebbles shaped by erosion, reflecting the textures and forms of natural stones. Each box starts from a standard form, but variations in the marbled patterns create a unique surface for each piece. These variations become more noticeable when multiple boxes are displayed together, encouraging viewers to explore and compare. 

This dynamic is further enhanced by three planned sizes, allowing playful compositions that mimic pebbles found on a shore – boxes standing together in contrast while complementing one another. The collection highlights the care and attention involved in making it – from slip-casting to hand-finishing – and how small gestures in the process create individuality. The work shows how everyday objects can carry texture, form, and character, making the subtle processes of craft visible.
