The most common definition of a weed is a plant in the wrong place.

Walking through the streets in Glasgow where I live, I’m often struck by the incredible ability of plants to thrive in the most inhospitable spaces. This series of planted forms foreground this urban garden.

Part of my research for a while now has been exploring how vintage ceramics could be reinterpreted in contemporary design. For these sculptural interventions I chose unwanted mid-century vessels for their affiliations with the new world visions of the time.

These relics, sourced cheaply from charity shops and ebay, are now playfully adapted as apparatus for growing plants.
