Disturbance is a sculptural installation comprising carved yew forms and cast pewter elements.
Each pewter form is created by pouring molten metal into water, capturing a moment of impact shaped by gravity, pressure and resistance. These unrepeatable eruptions are embedded within carved timber surfaces, where the swirling grain of the yew reads as both landscape and record.
The metal interrupts the wood, yet simultaneously exposes what was latent within it — darkened fissures, shifts in direction, and tension within the grain. The work explores how unseen forces become legible through material transformation. What is normally fleeting and invisible is fixed in solid form, revealing the quiet violence and natural energy embedded in both metal and timber.
