Xiaotao Tang

This series of artworks encompasses the unconventional application of techniques such as chiaroscuro (sfumato) and etching within digital creations.

Simultaneously, it draws on the tradition of the "polymath painter", employing an integrated approach across multiple disciplines—including architecture, optics, and philosophy—for image creation.

The aim is to underscore the role of scientific inquiry and transformation in art, showcasing the partial, contemporary relevance of ancient intellectual heritage. Examples include the modern manifestation and utility of Michelangelo's use of body language to convey philosophy (as seen in works like Day and Night) within modern imagery. The research and outcomes discussed above are rooted in a

process of re-examining and reconfiguring ancient intellectual legacies.

This work seeks to reintegrate these concepts into contemporary life while

demonstrating the renewed value of Renaissance-era artistic techniques and ideas through modern digital mediums. This exploration at the intersection of science and vast knowledge represents a pursuit of my personal ideals.
