I watched 100 clouds..
This project started from London, then in different parts of the world. I sit outdoors with only a sketchbook, watching the sky, letting my instincts guide my hand. Afterwards, I translated those sketches into clay forms.
The results are unpredictable. Some days, after hours of waiting, I returned with nothing: clouds never formed, or rain came suddenly. In the studio, clay can collapse and glazes behave unpredictably. These changes echo the nature of clouds: always shifting, impossible to control, here one moment and gone the next.
As I watched, the clouds seemed to have a life of their own : so I gave them eyes. Though fleeting, each cloud existed in a specific moment, surrounded by birds, planes, treetops, and other clouds.. By capturing a single moment of a cloud, I also recorded the weather, the temperature, the sunlight, my mood, and the small presence of me.
