Yiling Wu (London Design Festival 2023)
“Dots become threads once it all gathers”
Yiling draws inspiration from the beauty of nature, cultural traditions, and pressing social issues. Her artistic focus centres on pushing the boundaries of 2D and 3D embroidery. She dedicates herself to experimenting with diverse techniques, combining a variety of materials, digital embroidery skills, and hand beading methods to craft her distinctive style of embroidery.
“Under the skin” collection
“We all once tried to see through what is under the skin”
Inspired from planned attacking issues around the society these days, Yiling draws the inspiration from all the debates and sadness around these kinds of public attacks and interprets them with resin to express her feeling of what if we can see under the skin.
“Once we all connected, is stronger than ever”
Things can always be read in two different aspects, behind the sadness, we can always see lights and hopes spread like veins under our skins. Representing the connection through embroidery threads, Yiling wishes to connect all spirits using her threads and all the sadness can be cured and recovered one day.
