Application fee: £12 (one-off; no further payment if selected)
Please note that paying the application fee does not guarantee selection. All submissions are reviewed by our curatorial team, and only selected artists will be featured based on artistic merit and curatorial relevance.
Deadline: Last day of every month, 23:59 GMT
Announcement: Selected artist revealed within 5 working days
What selected artists receive:

Full artist interview and critical review by Sara Chyan, based on your artist statement, work statement, and supplied images

Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply to both the Monthly Artist Highlight and the Quarterly Artist Interview + Review Book open calls hosted by Blackdot Gallery. By submitting an application, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
1. Eligibility

Open to artists worldwide.
-
All mediums, disciplines, and formats are welcome.
-
No age restrictions.
2. Entry Fee
-
Monthly Artist Highlight: £12 per entry.
-
Quarterly Artist Interview + Review Book: £20 per entry.
-
All fees are non-refundable unless the programme is cancelled by Blackdot Gallery.
3. Submission Requirements
-
Complete the online application form in full.
-
Submit an artist statement and/or artwork statement in English.
-
Upload images of your work (150dpi, JPEG or PNG).
-
All submitted works must be original and created by the applicant.
4. Selection Process
-
All submissions will be reviewed by the Blackdot Gallery curatorial team.
-
Selection will be based on artistic quality, conceptual depth, and coherence between statement and work.
-
For themed months or quarters (if applicable), relevance to the theme will be considered.
-
All decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
5. Timeline
-
Monthly Artist Highlight:

Deadline: Last day of each month at 23:59 GMT.

Results announced within 5 working days.

Quarterly Artist Interview + Review Book:

Deadline: Last day of each quarter at 23:59 GMT.

Results announced within 14 working days.

6. Copyright & Usage
-
All copyright remains with the artist.
-
By applying, you grant Blackdot Gallery the right to use submitted images, statements, and relevant materials for:
-
Online and social media publication (including but not limited to the Blackdot Gallery website, Instagram, and Xiaohongshu / RED).
-
Inclusion in online publications such as the Quarterly Review Book.
-
Non-commercial promotional purposes related to the gallery’s activities.
-
-
Works will not be sold by Blackdot Gallery without a separate written agreement.
7. Deliverables for Selected Artists
-
Provide any additional images if requested (150dpi is sufficient for online use).
-
Participate in an interview process (for Quarterly programme) and provide any additional information required for the review.
-
Cooperate in providing background details, work descriptions, and other relevant materials.
8. Publication
-
Monthly Artist Highlight: Featured on the Blackdot Gallery website, Instagram, and Xiaohongshu (RED).
-
Quarterly Artist Interview + Review Book: Published as an online PDF (non-downloadable) and emailed to the artist for reference only.
9. General
-
Blackdot Gallery reserves the right to amend or cancel the open calls at any time.

Submission of an application constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
